I am currently seeing all clients via video telehealth using a HIPAA-compliant online platform which you can access from any PC, tablet, or phone with a good internet connection and camera. I am able to meet any client who is located in the state of New Jersey this way. I do plan to reopen my physical office to clients soon - when that happens, you will be able to choose if you want to move to in person or keep talking on video!

I am a CBT therapist, or cognitive behavioral therapist, though I bring an eclectic, varied and customized approach to therapy. You can read more about me and my therapy approach here. You can also look me up on my Psychology Today page.

Therapy is what you want it to be! We usually will meet for close to an hour and we’ll work on what you want to work on! It might be talking about things that have happened recently or in the past, concerns you have about the future, or even working on skills to help reduce stress. Therapy is a non-judgmental, confidential space - all feelings are welcome.

We will work together to pick a frequency that works for you, but typically we start out meeting weekly. Therapy is dose responsive, so I find that this typically helps you create the most change and feel better most quickly! Many clients eventually step down to less frequency (every other week, or once a month) or eventually terminate or “graduate” from therapy.

I do! I am currently in network with Cigna / Evernorth, Aetna, and United Healthcare / UHC and subsidiaries like UMR. These companies negotiate a discount on my fee for you.
I am out of network with other insurance companies, but for many insurance companies (such Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield) I am able to use out of network benefits and file the claims for you directly or provide a superbill. If you’re not sure what your out of network plan covers, contact me and I will provide you with the list of questions to ask your insurance company.
I also accept clients who pay out of pocket, and I have the ability to offer sliding scale fees for financial need on a case-by-case basis. Please feel free to reach out and speak further with me about your situation.

To ask questions about therapy or schedule an appointment, contact me using the information found here! I provided a complimentary 10-15 minute phone consultation to determine your needs and if my therapy services are a good fit for you.

Jennifer Holak LLC requires 24 hours notice for any changes or cancellations to appointment time/session. Late cancellations/no shows are subject to a late cancel fee per practice policy (full session amount - insurance cannot be billed).

A Good Faith Estimate is a estimate available to you per the No Surprises Act, especially if you are using out of network insurance benefits.
You have the right to request and receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
Therapy treatment/number of sessions are variable, and as we have not yet met for any assessment/diagnosis, I cannot firmly determine how long treatment may be. Therapy frequency and length is dependent on an individual's clients goals, and is part of an ongoing conversation about how a therapist can best support a client in their therapy journey. You can multiply the fee by the number of sessions to estimate your cost share over time. Some clients utilize therapy for brief/acute issues, some utilize it ongoing as part of maintenance for their mental health issues. For example, the APA reports psychotherapy lasts on average for 18 sessions, so their estimate at full rate without any insurance support would be $120 x 18 or $2,160 or 18 sessions. In a case where someone wanted to attend weekly therapy for 52 weeks (a full calendar year) without any missed weeks or any support from their insurance company, their estimate for that calendar year would be $120 x 52 = $6,240. This initial estimate is valid for 12 months, but you can request an update at any time.
Please remember you can always discuss billing, cost, treatment plan, length of sessions, and amount of sessions with me at any time.
